Charlottesville, 2017, stoneware

And when I apply race and privilege to recent events, I think about these guys. Because white people descending en masse with lit torches shouting "Blood and soil!" and "Jews will not replace us" followed the next day by several thousand more openly armed white people, including private militia groups, shouting "go back to Africa", waving Nazi flags, committing violence, claiming oppression by a culture and history that defaults and celebrates White, all demonstrated upon the grassy lawns of architecture representing the larger systems of institutionalized racism upon which this country was founded, knowing most all of them will get to go home that night in their own cars and share tacos for dinner, is white privilege.
