Getting Some Help, 2017, stoneware
I've always had access to mental health resources. From parents who made sure I had access, to educational opportunities that helped life me up out of the worst of it, to being white and female. My research in understanding more about mental health has brought me to a whole new understanding of access. Finding and receiving help can be a game, where the winners and losers are determined by race and gender, education and wealth, culture and tradition. Even without barriers, the path is a claustrophobic, confusing maze of doubt and fear. What obstacles have you experienced? Are you even able to start the process?
